Symposium 2012: mon compte rendu condensé

  1. Avec mes excuses pour l’English et pour le fait que je n’avais pas mis ce document sur ce blog. Il n’était que sur un réseau social.
    What I felt was most important said at the Symposium:
    • Confirm everything. There are too few to select. (Pr Triquet)

    • Eugène Gayot said in 1865: The Barbet is a dog with a long coat, a beard and loves water.
    • Un chien à gros poil (since the 17th cent. Pr Triquet) That does not mean each strand is thick.
    • Genetic diversity is being lost (Popular sire syndrome).
    • The poodle has very much aff

    ected the breed.
    • Do not forbid the use of healthy carriers.
    • The morphological type is of a Griffon (Pr Denis)
    • There is no reason to remove colors that were in the breed in the past.
    • A woolly coat is only undercoat.
    • The shiny coat is real hair.
    • An over-groomed (show) Barbet as seen in several countries (too brushed) is a hypertype.( R Rault)

    • For the well-being of the dog, he/she should be able to see.
    • Working on the epilepsy problem by using true pedigrees ( vs official) will get faster results ( P Quignon)

    FYI:
    The information on the “other” (unofficial) database was compiled by the representative of the Barbet at the club, F Loiseau on her personal website over several years and ONLY put into a database recently.Some seem to have been surprised.
    F Loiseau was not present at the Barbet Symposium and seems likely to be resigning shortly and be replaced. Her replacement seems to have been selected.

    Ulysse di Barbochos Reiau de Prouvenco was rehabilitated. R Rault said his coat was wooly and curly.

    Bottom line said by Pr Triquet, at 17.20:
    IF you want dogs that looks like Poodles, buy a Poodle.

     Je pense que ceci est la raison de l’apparition de ce veritebb. Lui et ses camarades n’ont pas du tout apprécié que confirment les ouvrages historiques que le Barbet fait bien partie de la grande famille des GRIFFONS.
    Le toilettage ridicule d’un chien à une expo n’arrange rien à la situtation. Toilettage, non reconnu…
