Honesty is not the best global Barbet policy, but at some point many will need to be more transparent.

In 2012, we did have access to the éminences grises of the SCC. Pr Denis has his arms folded in his back. This is when Dr Leroy is being told he would not be talking about the work he did for 6 months before…

Professor Bernard Denis has been around for many years and certainly is “aware” of what is happening to our breed and many others.

The last paragraph does mention the fact that people, meaning breeders ought to explain why there is so much “diversity” in a given litter…and if they want a precise type, they need to look for a breeding with higher in-breeding %…bottom line: don’t lie about what you think you know to potential buyers…they are paying a lot for what they think they are getting.

A pot de “l’amitié” has been set up for the Club show in December where everyone present can discuss the breed…Now, it may be the teacher in me, but going there to chit-chat about the coat or this and that when there are a lot of competent people around who were at some point, willing to help…are not there, seems another shot in the dark. Do you homework first and get the proper info. Why some cannot comprehend that there are varieties in a breed, is mindboggling. Then wonder no more why this and why that.

Yet another database has been set up, or revamped, or whatever you want to call it, but..this great innovation is soooooo old. Getting a symposium report out 4 years after the fact is yet another blunder to the breed.

Something to look into as a subject:

the 1830 edition of Buffon/Daubenton, about the degeneration of animals:

Using Barbet blood and selecting on a Poodle type, is not helping forward the breed…Need more subjects? Just ask, or whistle.
