Waterwork

…and still in the “C” litter 2007

Caya in Le Havre

Cori and her grand_nephew, next to me in Lalheue

CompayII, his grandson, NatK and his daughter Froguette in the back. The toy is of course..a frog…

Hanging in there, my GuyGuy!

These last months have been very trying, with the weather, work, the dogs to take care of and keeping GuyGuy happy…and healthy to his best. I have had to step back and try to stay as zen as possible for him, and me..since  we do know they feel everything. He is doing as well as can be expected. The verdict is chronic hepatitis and he most likely will not die of it, but hopelly of “just” old age.For many months, I was hoping he would reach his mother’s age of 11.5, then I was hoping he would make it to the new year and now we’re in February and I am thinking that perhaps he could make it to his birthday in April.I have had to shut off some oytside perturbating factors  to be able to fully concentrate on him..so far so good.  Here’s a little video…GuyGuy_Rules

He is his usual happy self

Waiting for his walk.

A lot of snow that did not last!

Barbet GuyGuy..hanging in there.

GuyGuy is taking his medicine for his gallstone, eating sometimes more sometimes less and I spend the time to make sure he does. We are now testing some homeopathy that could help him when he moans and is in pain. He  IS a real trooper and so sweet. Every day, I am blessed to have him.

Past and present again: the VIEUX BARBET!

In the previous post you saw Iorga from 1973..now, here is Trident at a field trial, in 1983. 10 years later..NatK and Trident are very similar in morphology and type.https://pawpeds.com/db/?a=p&id=784696&g=4&p=bar&date=iso&o=ajgrep. Selection was on type not on pedigree…

More obvious is that the is no poodle in Trident. There is in NatK, but I selected away from the Poodle type. Otherwise, I would have a Barbet Moderne and I have not worked for the breed to have a 65cms/35k type of re-incarnated Poodle, de Buffon.

All in all, the past cannot just be erased, ignored and ridiculed..and some can do their best to thrash dogs and people but facts are facts.

A Barbet is not a Poodle…

On the left is a Griffon Barbet and on the right is a Barbet Moderne ( Poodle type).

The standard was not  ever written for a Poodle…it has been modified several times to become a poodletype…The Poodle exists already. It was written for a GUNDOG called Barbet d’arrêt.

When you read here and there that the Vieux Barbet/Barbet Authentique and Barbet MODERNE are the same dog.. Then, you know that the person saying it is as blind as a bat. He or she has not a clue what he or she is talking about.

Never seen before in Barbet world: 5 generations under one roof

5 generations under one roof!

A feat no one, not even a real  breeder, in the Barbet world has ever accomplished.

To this day: to show a line and its evolution  over 5 generations . I did it. A lot of sacrifices..But I am so happy. 13 years to 5 months. All homogeneous and healthy!

I have worked very very hard over the last 15 years to get to where I wanted to be.

A particular type of Barbet, the historical Griffon type, as in Rose, 1887.

As the Vieux Barbet should be, as portrayed below. These are all historical references. Le Barbet n’est pas un Caniche.

I did my my way…My proudest achievement!

…back to the beginning, my beginning and the real Barbet, a Vieux Barbet that does not look like a Poodle or a crossbreed fashion designer dog. I can sit down and admire this pedigree…and thank everyone who helped achieve this major feat in the Barbet world.
