Very exciting news and more “Vieux Barbet”. Lovely colors, perfect weights. Mom looks content and dad did a good job!

Coccolina is great great grandmother again…to 77 Barbets. What impresses me most since in human life it would be quite rare if even possible…Total 549

She grew and grew and now…time to have a litter!

I am proud and happy to announce that Outdoors Abergavennie aka Vennie,  who comes from the Netherlands  should be having a litter this year…she is extremely complementary to the Barbets I have raised here in the past of which there are many champions and working dogs.

Vennie is gentle, fun, playful, very attentive and loving. She loves water and is extremely obedient.

A hips, no PRA. 54 cms 19.5 kgs. Best Puppy Clubshow 2013.

Her mate will be

French Lover de la serve de la chapelle d’Alexandre who has already fathered a very typical “Vieux Barbet”  type litter, growing very nicely.eye

Brabet_Froggy_profileB hips 59 cms 27 kgs SCC selection grid 4/6.

Eyes: no PRA Son of Compay II who has reproduced himself several excellent typed Barbets and grandson of Coccolina who is mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother of nearly 550 pups living around the world. All known for excellent character and temperament.

I am looking forward to their pups to continue the Barbet en Bresse line started in 2006.

History of the Barbet

Interesting how those most interested in the true history of the breed are foreign nationals. The person who wrote this  below is Dutch, the one who has the most factual information is Polish and I am not French either. At one time in 2012, when I told the breed club in France that their history on the SCC site was a sight… for sore eyes, I was told by a board member it was going to be re-written in a factual way. Well, that along with lots of other changes at club, never happened and in the end the french breed club  still does not even have a history…of the breed, that is.

Read the first part of the breed history, here. The rest will come, soon! It will be the meat-y part, with Grand Barbet de Buffon, not being so “grand“.

Iabada and her horse friend

Barbet_Iabada_horseA friendship seems to have developed between Iabada and the Appaloosa…when the see each other, they run together.

This morning, I went back to see if it was with my dogs or A dog in particular. Well, Iabada did not come and the horses did not even come to the fence.Amazing.Watch below!

Uncle and nephew: Compay and Crokus…and….

On the left: Compay II de la serve de la Chapelle d’Alexandre, on the right Vom Springbell Crokus, Compay’s nephew…it must be in the jeans..or?

Barbet_AkvavitAkvavit was never “used” because he was

only  53 cms tall…so add on him a dense matted coat and you get to 55. Still out of standard, you say, but it doesn’t bother many great champions today, does it. Stand him on a rock and show his nice wide chest ought to do it! I say!
